Work Sharp Whetstone is a two-sided ceramic sharpener, equipped with a solid base with a water tank and two-stage angular guides.
Water stone
The Work Sharp Whetstone uses a large size double-sided water stone, allowing both small and large knives to be sharpened.
Fine-grained aluminum trioxide stone (commonly known as aluminum oxide) is characterized by high hardness, therefore it is suitable for sharpening almost any steel used to create knives.
Alumina, besides being highly effective, is also easy to clean. The water stone requires soaking before use and during sharpening.
To prepare the stone for work, it is enough to immerse it completely in water and leave it for a few minutes or until no more air bubbles are formed.
High gradations
Double-sided stone has two high grades 1000 and 6000. We can use 1000 gradation to sharpen slightly dull knives or to pre-polish the edges.
6000 gradation is used for polishing on the so-called mirror and give it final focus. Such functionality makes the Work Sharp Whetstone perfect for sharpening Japanese kitchen knives and for precise grinding of other tools.
A solid foundation
Together with the stone, we get a polymer base that prevents the stone from moving during sharpening and allows for constant watering of the other side of the stone.
Water that collects in the base tank moisturizes the stone and makes the rubbed off the stone easier, which makes cleaning easier and faster.
Replaceable angular guides
The Work Sharp Whetstone sharpener is equipped with 15 ° and 17 ° angled guides (magnetically mounted). After placing the knife blade against the guide, it is enough to evenly pull the blade over the sharpening plate at a constant angle.
This simple and practical simplification means that after a short time, the hand-held sharpening technique will not cause any problems. The predefined guide angles of 15 ° and 17 ° are designed for kitchen knives, filleting knives and precision cutting tools.
After disassembling the guides, we can of course sharpen at a different, independently defined angle.
