The blade length of the Opinel Outdoor Curved Knife No.8 is 8.5 cm (3.5 cm of which is specially serrated for cutting rope). There is a special cut-out for clamps of 4-10 mm. The blade is particularly strong with a thickness of 2,5 mm. The MA5 stainless steel blade is made by martensitic hardening. Nitrogen (0.15%) is added to make the steel stronger and chromium (16%) is added to make it even more resistant to corrosion.

The handle of the Outdoor series of curved knives is made of a special composition polyamide plastic, which ensures quality knife life in temperatures from - 40 C to + 80 C. Virobloc protective ring
The Opinel curved knife Outdoor No. 8, like all Opinel curved knives from No. 6 onwards, is equipped with the Virobloc safety ring invented by Marcel Opinel in 1955. The Virobloc ring, which is cut from stainless steel, consists of two parts: a fixed and a sliding part. The blade is locked in both a folded position (for safe handling) and a folded position (for safety during transport).
