Description

Product
The use of tungsten carbite for utility knife blades was considered impossible for a long time. Due to the extremely high degree of hardness and the associated increased fracture sensitivity, the miracle material in its previous form was unattractive for the knife industry.

However, Alessandro Colombatto, owner of Turmond S.p.A. based in Turin/ Italy, managed to find an ideal composition for exactly this purpose. With a still incredible hardness of "only" 71 HRC, knife blades from Sandrin Knives are quite flexible and also considerably less resistant to breakage than ceramic blades.

In doing so, a edge retention is achieved that is far superior to any known classic or modern steel. The manufacturer states that the cutting edge stays sharp 20x longer than the best premium powder steels (see also comparison list). And although there is no chrome in the blades, Sandrin Knives are just as rust-inert as Stainless Steel knives.

Further information on Sandrin Knives can also be found in the manufacturer's description.

The TCK 2.0 is the first and so far only folding knife made of tungsten carbide, new from March 2020 are two more versions (Dellatorre - Drop Point Blade and Lanzo - Sheepfoot Blade). Despite its hardness of 71 HRC, it is as flexible as a scalpel blade. Due to the slip lock, the blade is not locked, so that it does not fall under the wearing restriction according to § 42a WaffG in Germany. It can therefore be legally conducted in Germany.
