Sawyer Mini SP105 is an ultra-light, personal water filtration system with a capacity of 370,000 liters, with an advanced filter in 0.1 micron technology that retains 99.99% of harmful bacteria and protozoa.
The filter has a mouthpiece on one side and a thread on the other for attaching it to bottles and hydration systems. The device weighs only 57 g and fits easily in a jacket or trouser pocket. The filter allows you to drink water directly from the tank or stream (straw included), can be attached to a standard PET bottle (with a thread) or a squeeze sachet (included), it is also compatible with hydration bags. This allows water to be obtained from various sources and poured over and collected in another vessel.
Inside the filter there is a network of U-shaped micro-channels in which particles and impurities larger than 0.1 microns (micrometers) are retained. For example, coliform bacteria are 0.8 microns in size. Thanks to such advanced and thorough filtration, Sawyer Mini blocks bacteria and protozoa that are dangerous to human health, including E. Coli, Giardii (Gut), Vibrio Cholerea (Cholera) and Salmonella Typhi (Salmonella).
The capillary membrane does not retain heavy metals, sulfur and iron, and viruses that require the use of appropriate chemicals.
The filter is extremely durable and easy to clean. The declared capacity of the filter is up to 378,541 liters of water. Therefore, by cleaning up to 10 liters of water a day, the filter will last for 100 years, so it is a device with lifetime operation.
After some time, the flow of water in the filter may become obstructed, this is a signal that it has accumulated a large amount of dirt and requires maintenance. Cleaning the filter is extremely simple, just use the included syringe to force clean water through the mouthpiece several times. In this way, we rinse the accumulated sediment and restore the membrane performance. Proper use and regular cleaning provide up to 98.5% efficiency.
The filter works mechanically and does not require any additional chemicals. Its performance is practically unlimited, so its purchase will last a lifetime.
Due to the channel structure of the membrane, the filter should not be allowed to freeze in winter conditions, it may lead to its permanent damage.
