Lansky Turn Box 4 cer / diam TB-2D2C is a simple sharpening system with ceramic and diamond rods, enabling sharpening of kitchen knives, everyday use and survival tools.
Traditional hand-held sharpening, considered by many knife enthusiasts as the best method of sharpening, requires experience, practice and patience, for which most of us do not find the time or the will.
Thinking about people looking for simpler and equally effective methods of sharpening, Lansky has designed the Lansky Turn Box sharpener.
Building
The construction of the sharpener is very simple, it consists of a wooden base with holes of different angles of inclination and a set of ceramic and diamond sharpening rods.
The user can independently decide on the selection of the sharpening angle, based on his own preferences, the purpose of the knife or the specification provided by the manufacturer.
After placing the bars of the same gradation in the holes, a V-type system (two-sided) with a constant sharpening angle is formed. This allows you to maintain control over the grinding process, thus affecting its correctness and quality of sharpening.
The wooden base also acts as a transport container, enabling safe transport of the set elements in one place.
After packing, the set weighs 210 g and takes up little space, so lovers of survival and bushcraft can also use it in the field.
Sharpening angles
Depending on the type and purpose of the knife, the cutting edge may have a different angle, affecting the strength and cutting parameters. The Lansky Turn Box Sharpener offers 2 angle settings most commonly used by knife manufacturers.
- 20 ° - kitchen knives, pocket knives, small edc folders,
- 25 ° - large EDC folders, hunting, outdoor and survival knives
Rods
The set includes two types of sharpening rods: ceramic and diamond. Ceramic rods with a gradation of 1000 are made of hard alumina, allowing for polishing and sharpening of popular steel grades, e.g. 440C, N690, 14C28N, AUS8.
Diamond bars with 600 grit are intended for sharpening highly hardened steel of high hardness, e.g. CPM-S30V, M390, Elmax, as well as faster sharpening of steel with lower hardness.
Included:
- 2 diamond rods with a grade of 600 medium to provide the working sharpness,
- 2 ceramic rods, graded 1000 extra fine, for polishing or quick sharpening
To clean ceramic rods, it is worth buying a Lansky Eraser Block LERAS, which allows you to easily and quickly remove the surface coating of steel deposited on the ceramics during sharpening.
