The Benchmade 4300 CLA is a lightweight automatic knife , featuring a CPM 154 stainless steel blade , oversized deployment button, and durable G40 laminate cladding .
American tool steel
The knife has a slender 86 mm long blade made of 154CM hard tool steel , hardened to a hardness of 58-61 HRC . 154CM is a high carbon stainless steel enriched with molybdenum, therefore it can be described as the improved version of 440C.
American 154CM steel is valued for its resistance to corrosion and wear (high toughness), long maintenance of working sharpness and relative ease of sharpening.
Utility blade
The blade with a usable drop point profile has been finished with the satin finish (polishing) method. The dull blade is easier to clean and does not reflect light.
The knife has a gently marked belly of the blade and a strong point. A blade with such a profile is an excellent choice for people looking for a knife with very good cutting properties and a durable tip.
There are transverse cutters on the back section of the spine, allowing for a stable finger support during planing or precise cutting .
The thickness of the blade at its widest point is 2.9 mm , which is a compromise between the durability and functionality of the knife in everyday work.
Instant disassembly
The main advantage of the automatic knife is the comfortable and quick unfolding system . Unlike the models with an assisted blade, in an automatic knife, unfolding the blade requires only pressing the button, which is responsible for releasing the lock and activating a strong spring.
Folding the blade requires pressing the button again and manually retracting the blade. Such functionality makes "vending machines" very popular among soldiers, employees of uniformed services and EDC enthusiasts.
The enlarged release button is embedded in a milled cutout, so it does not protrude above the handle.
