The Benchmade 590SBK-1 Boost is a universal edc knife equipped with a combo blade made of S30V steel, a mechanism supporting the opening of the blade, a reliable axis-lock and reinforced Versaflex cladding.
Exclusive steel
The knife has a usable drop-point blade with a length of 94 mm, made of American CPM-S30V stainless steel.
S30V powder steel by Crucible Industries is hardened to an optimal hardness of 58-60 HRC, therefore it maintains high sharpness for a long time, has high mechanical strength, and is also resistant to corrosion.
Due to the high content of vanadium carbides, the steel is distinguished by high toughness and abrasion resistance, as well as excellent cutting properties. The blade is covered with a layer of black Teflon, which protects the blade from minor scratches.
When choosing a hard steel knife, you should get a diamond sharpener, as sharpening with a standard ceramic whetstone can be very laborious and ineffective.
A serrated blade
The functionality of the knife is significantly increased by the serrated part of the blade, useful when cutting hard and fibrous materials, e.g. belts, ropes and tapes.
Easy to unfold
The blade can be conveniently and quickly unfolded with one hand using a double-sided pin, which ensures comfort for right and left-handed people.
The opening process is facilitated and accelerated by the support mechanism. A gentle lifting of the double-sided pin activates an internal spring that dynamically unfolds the blade. Such functionality means that the knife is ready to work in a fraction of a second.
Two locks
The flagship Benchmade mechanism, a double-sided Axis-lock blockade, is responsible for work safety, valued for its great mechanical strength, resistance to dirt and ease of use for right and left-handed users.
The knife has an additional lock that prevents accidental folding and unfolding of the blade while carrying it. The slider of the second safety mechanism is located on the back of the handle.
Comfortable handle
The knife has contoured Grivory grips covered with thermoplastic Versaflex elastomer for better grip. This solution provides a stable grip, high control and comfort in everyday use.
The construction of the knife is reinforced by full steel liners.
Discreet carrying of the knife in a pocket is facilitated by a high-mounted clip, which can be attached on both sides of the linings.
The manufacturer has also not forgotten to use a hole for the paracord rope, which is commonly used to make decorative tails and handles that facilitate the selection of a knife.
