Kershaw Lightyear 1395 is a lightweight folder for everyday use, equipped with a 4Cr14 steel blade and the SpeedSafe system for quick and convenient blade unfolding.
The Lightyear 1395 model belongs to the budget Kershaw Starter series, which is distinguished by modern design, good quality materials and affordable prices.
Proven steel
The 79 mm long blade is made of solid 4Cr14 steel hardened to a hardness of 55–57 HRC. This Chinese stainless steel has a high corrosion resistance and maintains sharpness for a relatively short time, which, however, perfectly compensates for the ease and speed of sharpening.
Such properties of steel mean that Kershaw Lightyear 1395 is intended for less demanding users and people who are just starting their adventure with outdoor and EDC equipment.
Functional blade
The slender blade with a symmetrical spear-point profile has a stonewashed matte finish (bathing in abrasive stones), which effectively masks minor scratches or abrasions on the blade caused during use.
Thanks to the use of a strong point, a concave cut and a cutting edge with a gentle curvature, the knife has good cutting and penetrating properties, and the blade does not get stuck in the material being cut.
The thickness of the blade at its widest point is 2.7 mm, which is a compromise between the durability and functionality of the knife in everyday work. Transverse cutters made on the back of the blade allow for a stable support of the fingers during work.
The design of the knife includes custom accents in the form of a pivot with an original design and a backspacer protruding from the handle with a rope hook.
Convenient operation
The blade is unfolded with one hand using a milled flipper, a convenient solution for both right and left-handed users. This convenient method of opening the blade makes the use of the knife extremely convenient and easy.
A mechanism supporting the unfolding of the blade
The opening process is facilitated by the SpeedSafe support mechanism. When you press the pinball blade, the support mechanism activates an internal spring that dynamically unfolds the blade, making the knife ready for use in a fraction of a second.
Robust lock
After unfolding the blade, it is securely locked with the liner-lock mechanism. The steel blockade strip ensures a high level of security, and its operation is very intuitive and convenient. A reliable lock is an important element that calls for the functionality and safety of a folding knife.
Carrying clip
Discreet carrying of the knife in the pocket is facilitated by an elastic clip with the possibility of fixing in 2 positions. The backspacer protruding from the handle has a hook for attaching a line or a paracord braid, which are very popular among many knife owners.
Ergonomic linings
The handle of the knife is made of light and durable glass-fiber reinforced nylon (FRN) cladding. The ergonomic shape of the handle and texturing make the knife firmly in the hand, and its use is very comfortable.
The Kershaw Lightyear 1395 offers everything that we expect from a modern edc knife: it has a lightweight design, a proven lock, and any user can handle sharpening the blade with a pocket whetstone.
