The Kershaw Leek 1660CB is a popular knife for everyday use, with a composite steel blade, a blade unfolding mechanism and a proven frame-lock blockade.
Composite steel
Kershaw Leek was created with everyday use in mind, which is clearly emphasized by its small size, light structure and typically functional style.
The first thing that draws our attention to the Kershaw Leek 1660CB is the characteristic wavy line along the blade where the two grades of steel are joined.
The 75 mm long blade is made of the so-called composite steel, i.e. a kind of hybrid consisting of Swedish 14C28N stainless steel hardened in the range of 58-60 HRC (upper part of the blade) and chrome D2 steel (cutting edge).
Due to the high purity of the alloy and the addition of nitrogen, 14C28N is characterized by high hardness and increased resistance to corrosion.
The highly hardened D2 tool steel used in the lower part is distinguished by very high hardness and wear resistance, which for the user means maintaining the working sharpness for a long time and extremely aggressive cutting.
The slim blade with an aggressive wharncliffe profile has a uniform, matte sandblasting finish. Thanks to the use of a narrow point, a concave cut and an almost straight cutting edge, the knife has excellent cutting properties and the blade does not get stuck in the material.
The thickness of the blade at its widest point is 3 mm, which is a compromise between the durability and functionality of the knife in everyday work.
Comfort of use
The blade can be unfolded with one hand in two ways: with a milled flipper or with the use of a double-sided pin, thus enabling the selection of a method according to our preferences.
Both solutions are convenient for both right-handed and left-handed users, they also allow for convenient use of the knife with gloves. The opening process is facilitated by the SpeedSafe support mechanism.
When you press the pinball blade, the support mechanism activates an internal spring that dynamically unfolds the blade, making the knife ready for use in a fraction of a second.
Two locks
Against accidental folding of the blade, the monolithic frame-lock lock is effectively protected, considered to be one of the most durable locking mechanisms. The main lock is supported by an additional Tip Safety Lock.
A slide lock located in the upper part of the knife prevents accidental opening of the blade in the folded position.
Foldable clip
Discreet carrying of the knife in a pocket is possible thanks to the high-mounted clip that can be mounted on both sides of the handle. Next to the clip, there is a hole for attaching a decorative paracord braid, which is very popular among most knife owners.
Simple and stylish
The handle of the knife consists of 410 stainless steel cladding, delicately profiled to the hand. The sandblasting method was used to finish the grip, similar to the blade, thanks to which the knife has a very stylish and elegant line.
