The Kershaw Emerson 6034D2 is a versatile folding knife equipped with a D2 steel blade, frame-lock lock and a convenient folding system, the result of a collaboration between Kershaw and Emerson Knives.
Kershaw and Emerson Knives have joined forces to create a series of knives that combine the precision and quality of Kershaw with the uncompromising functionality of the Emerson brand.
Hard tool steel D2
The 83 mm long blade is made of hard and durable D2 tool steel hardened to 58-60 HRC. D2 is the most corrosion-resistant carbon steel, which is characterized by high abrasion resistance, long maintenance of working sharpness and aggressive cutting.
When choosing a knife made of such steel, it is worth getting a diamond sharpener, because sharpening with a standard ceramic whetstone can be very labor-intensive and ineffective.
The wide blade with a usable clip-point profile, has a double finish: stonewashed on the cut and satin finish on the upper part.
Due to the use of a strong point, a very gentle curvature of the edge and a concave cut, the blade cuts very smoothly and efficiently, and there is no tendency to wedge in the material.
The unfolded knife has a length of 197 mm, the thickness of the blade at its widest point is 3 mm, which is a perfect compromise between the comfort of carrying, everyday functionality and durability.
Blade unfolds in two ways
The blade can be unfolded with one hand in two ways, ie with a knurled disc or using a "wave". The disc located on the back of the blade performs the same function as the popular flipper, with the difference, however, that it is operated with the thumb.
The Emerson solution is based on a hook-shaped mandrel, which, when drawing the knife, catches the edge of the pocket, as a result of which the blade unfolds spontaneously.
The disc and the wave hitch are symmetrically positioned, which allows comfortable use of the knife by right and left-handed people.
Work safety
Against accidental folding of the blade, it is effectively protected by a monolithic frame-lock equipped with a hardened steel insert, which guarantees reliability and operational safety.
Frame-lock is a solid lock considered to be one of the most durable locking mechanisms, characterized by resistance to dirt and very comfortable operation.
Comfortable grip
The handle of the knife is made of sandblasted 410 steel and black G-10 laminate. The profiled shape of the grip, the undercut for the fingers and the fine texturing of the composite make the knife very secure in the hand, and its use is very comfortable.
In the rear part of the handle there is a hole for attaching a decorative paracord tail, which makes it easier and faster to remove the knife from the pocket. Discreet carrying of the knife in a pocket is possible thanks to a flexible clip that can be mounted on both sides of the handle.
