TheKershaw Volt 3655 is a highly-regarded edc knife designed by RJ Martin, featuring an 8Cr13MoV steel blade, an assisted unfolding mechanism and a heavy-duty frame-lock.
Proven steel
TheKershaw Volt was created with everyday use and outdoor use in mind, which is clearly emphasized by its optimal size, robust construction and typically functional style.
The 82mm long blade is made of the popular 8Cr13MoV steel hardened to 57-59 HRC. This Chinese steel has good corrosion resistance and hardenability comparable to AUS6.
The 8Cr13MoV steel blade will be great for everyday use due to its corrosion resistance, good sharpness retention and ease of sharpening, for which a pocket whetstone is completely sufficient.
Useful blade
The slim blade, with a utilitarian drop-point profile, has been finished with a sandblasting method, which does a good job of masking minor scratches and abrasions that occur during use.
Thanks to the use of a strong hilt, concave grind and a cutting edge with a gentle curve, the knife has good cutting properties, and the blade does not wedge in the material being cut.
The thickness of the blade at its widest point is 3 mm, which is a compromise between durability and functionality of the knife in everyday work. On the raised ridge of the wedge, transverse cutters have been cut, designed for stable support of the fingers during work.
Comfort of use
The blade can be instantly unfolded with one hand by means of a milled flipper, it is enough to press the flipper vigorously and the knife is ready for work. This simple solution is convenient for both right- and left-handed users, and also allows comfortable operation of the knife with gloves.
Assist mechanism for unfolding the blade
The opening process is facilitated by the SpeedSafe assist mechanism. When the flipper flipper is pressed, the assist mechanism activates an internal spring that dynamically unfolds the blade, making the knife ready for use in a fraction of a second.
Robust locking mechanism
A monolithic frame-lock, considered one of the most robust locking mechanisms, effectively protects the blade from accidental folding. The lock, like the flipper and peg, can be operated with one hand.
Carry clip
Discreetly carrying the knife in your pocket is made possible by a steel clip, with the ability to attach in 2 positions (up/down). There is also a hole on the handle designed for attaching a decorative braided paracord, which are very popular among most knife owners.
Simple and stylish
The knife has simple facings of sandblasted 410 stainless steel. The manufacturer has dispensed with milling and texturing of the handle. Elements that ensure a stable and comfortable grip are the anatomical finger cutouts and the flipper, which, when the blade is unfolded, acts as a hilt.
