TheBenchmade 9170SBK Auto Triage is a large tactical knife with two automatically unfolding blades, designed for uniformed services and rescue. The version with a partially serrated blade.

Steel with enhanced corrosion resistance

The wide drop-point blade, 96 mm long, has a Teflon coating, which emphasizes the tactical nature of the knife. The blade has a strong hilt and a high concave grind, which guarantees smooth cutting and easy penetration. The head is as much as 3.1 mm thick at its widest point. The rear section of the back has been raised and cross cutters have been made on it, allowing the finger to rest steadily while working. Such parameters guarantee the functionality and durability of the knife and make it suitable for rescue and tactical tasks.

N680 chrome-molybdenum steel with exceptional resistance to rusting in salt water was used for the construction of the blade. Hardened to a hardness of 57-59 HRC, the steel has a high nitrogen content (0.20%) in its composition, which increases corrosion resistance, making Bohler N680 a cheaper alternative to the costly H1 grade.

The back of the blade is serrated, making it easier to cut hard (e.g., plastic and bone) and fibrous materials (ropes, belts, webbing). Combo blades (a combination of a smooth and serrated cutting edge) are mostly chosen by soldiers, rescue workers and those looking for tools with a wider range of applications.

Automatic unfolding

The blade can be conveniently and quickly unfolded with one hand using the locking slider on both sides. Sliding the button releases an internal spring, which instantly unfolds the blade,
Auto Axis-lock mechanism, valued for its high mechanical strength, resistance to dirt and ease of use, is responsible for safe operation. The knife uses an additional lock that prevents accidental unfolding of the blade during handling.

Rescue hook

The element that distinguishes the knife is an automatic rescue blade opened in the same way as the main blade, i.e. by moving the lock slider. Axis lock. The ease and speed of one-handed operation make the Benchmade 9170BK Auto Triage perfect for use as a rescue tool. The safe end of the hook means that during a car crash it can be used to cut clothing and car belts without fear of accidental injury to the victim. The hook is made of 440C stainless steel resistant to corrosion and wear. Fine grooves have been made in sensitive areas of the blade, which, by improving the grip, also increase the effectiveness of the ease and efficiency of cutting.

Profiled aluminum handle

The knife has profiled aluminum liners enriched with G10 laminate inserts made using a precise 3D technique. The tapered profile of the handle, combined with the rough texture of the plastic, provide excellent grip on the knife and comfort in use. Discreetly carrying the knife in your pocket is made possible by a high-set clip with mounting options on both sides of the handle. The handle is finished with a tungsten glass breaker, which allows you to effectively and safely break glass during a rescue operation.
