TheKizer Harpoon 1040 is a handy fixed-head edc knife that was developed through a collaboration between Kizer Cutlery and James Buckley of Maverick Customs.

The Kizer Harpoon 1040 is a medium-sized fixed blade, ideal for everyday carry (EDC) or outdoor-touring applications. The Harpoon knife has a full-tang (full shank) construction, which means that it is made from a single piece of steel. Knives with such construction are resistant to mechanical damage, which is why they are very popular among survival and bushcraft enthusiasts, as well as hunters and travelers.

High-tech wire-cutting machines were used to cut out the individual parts of the knife, which guarantees precision and perfect fit of the parts. The blade is made of tool-grade D2 carbon steel, which is characterized by high abrasion and wear resistance, very good retention (ability to maintain sharpness) and above-average cutting performance.

Highly hardened D2 steel, despite being a carbon steel, also has high corrosion resistance, thanks to its increased chromium content and vanadium doping. Thanks to such properties, the Harpoon knife can be successfully used as an outdoor tool.
However, when choosing a knife made of D2 steel, it is worth getting a diamond sharpener, as sharpening with a standard ceramic whetstone can be very labor-intensive and inefficient.

The harpoon-inspired shape of the headstock has a wedge at the tip end and a notch on the comb, allowing the index finger to rest during precision cutting. The blade has an optimal length of 94 mm, which will make the knife useful for both meal preparation and wood batoning.
The blade has a flat grind, which provides an excellent compromise between durability and cutting smoothness. The blade is protected from corrosion with a black powder paint with high abrasion resistance.

The knife's handle is formed by micarta facings attached to the bolt. Mikarta is a composite manufactured from thermosetting plastic and canvas. Mikarta is lightweight, has high mechanical strength, and is resistant to moisture, temperature and many solvents and acids. At the end of the handle there is a hole for a paracord or thong. Daily carrying of the knife at the belt or equipment is facilitated by a kydex sheath equipped with double-sided loops fastened with metal fasteners.
