Baseball & Softball

Baseball and softball are team outdoor games (sports) that require perfectly coordinated movements, good reflexes and sharp insight from the player. The goal of baseball is to help as many players on your team as possible by scouring the square with a wooden or aluminum stick, as well as to allow as few opponents as possible to scour the square. This game is played by two teams of nine players each on a 125 m long and 75 m wide court. There are nine halves in the match, with each team attacking once and defending once. The remake of this game is softball.
In Lithuania, baseball was started in 1922. That year, the first Lithuanian baseball championships took place in Kaunas. Since 1987 baseball competitions are held in Lithuania every year.

Baseball game inventory includes:
helmet - made of very hard plastic and protects the bouncer's head if a baseball ball is hit in the head;
shoes - made of leather, have metal or plastic spikes on the sole, which ensures that the player does not slip while running or standing on the ground or grass;
ankle guards - made of hard plastic, protects against possible blows of a lost ball;
baseball bat or hammer - smooth, rounded at the back. Baseball bats come in wooden, aluminum, plastic or combination. The ball is knocked down with an aluminum stick, but only wooden sticks are used in professional competitions.
ball - made of red cotton yarn around the rubber and cork core and covered with two strips of cowhide that are rigidly sewn. The usual weight of a baseball ball is 142-149 g and the width is 7-6 cm.
glove - made of leather. It allows the player to catch the ball. The size of a player's glove can vary, depending on the position on the court. The first base player’s glove has a longer pocket (than the indoor field player’s glove) with a maximum width of 8 inches. Indoor players must be able to quickly remove the ball from the glove in order to throw it further. Gloves for outdoor players have a longer pocket than for indoor players, making it easier to catch the ball.
ball catchers - they are made of hard plastic, with the exception of chest protectors, which are fitted with inserts to protect the torso. These guards are designed to protect the catcher from throwing or bouncing the ball.
