The perfect everyday EDC folding knife from Benchmade
The Benchmade Bailout 537SBK-07 is a military-style EDC knife, accented by a blackened tanto head and blue-colored facings. The knife uses an 86mm Japanese tanto profile blade, made of high-quality CPM MagnaCut powder steel.
The main difference between CPM MagnaCut steel and other stainless steels is the amount of chromium. The elimination of chromium carbides from the steel's composition has resulted in a fine microstructure, making CPM MagnaCut much easier to sharpen compared to steels with similar wear resistance.
CPM MagnaCut combines the strength of CPM-4V, the corrosion resistance of CPM-20CV, the retention of CPM-CruWear/ CPM-4V, and an impressive hardness of as much as 62 HRC, making it now regarded as one of the best steels in the world used in factory-made knives.
The blade has been coated with a gray DLC Battlewash coating, which has a very high abrasion resistance and also protects the steel from corrosion. The blade can be conveniently unfolded with one hand, thanks to a double-sided peg (made of anodized aluminum), allowing right- and left-handed people to operate the knife comfortably.
Proven locking mechanism in Benchmade folding knife
The head lock is, of course, the Axis Lock, Benchmade's flagship mechanism, prized for its great resistance to stress, insensitivity to dirt and ease of use. The double-sided lever can be comfortably operated with the left or right hand.
Ready for action - without compromise
Thanks to the use of aircraft-grade 6061-T6 aluminum facings, the knife's construction is extremely lightweight (76.5 g) and much more durable. The aggressive texturing of the handle and its widening at the base ensure a firm grip on the knife during use.
The wide clip with the option of translation (left/right) also makes it possible, to carry the knife in a pocket or tactical armband. The handle is finished with an aluminum insert with a tungsten carbide pin, which can act as a tool for hammer blows or as an emergency glass breaker.
