The Benchmade 5370FE Shootout is a knife with a tactical style, accented by a tanto blade and a handle with a discreet black color scheme. The knife uses an 89mm blade with an exotic tanto profile, distinguished by its sturdy tip, high resistance to breakage, and good cutting properties especially for planing, cutting line, etc.
Crucible Industries LLC 's latest tool steel CPM-Cruwear, hardened to a hardness as high as 63-65 HRC, was used for the blade. With excellent wear resistance and strength, CPM-Cruwear can be described as a steel with twice the performance of the original D2 steel. The new formula is enriched with vanadium, tungsten and molybdenum additives, which give the steel exceptional wear resistance and allow for high hardening. When choosing a knife made of such steel, it is worth getting a diamond sharpener, as sharpening with a standard ceramic whetstone can be very labor-intensive and inefficient.
The blade is coated with Flat Earth PVD (gas phase coating), which protects the blade from scratches, enhances its hardness and provides additional protection against corrosion.

TheBenchmade Shootout is a Double Action OTF automatic knife. Which means that both the process of extending and retracting the blade is done automatically. Thanks to such functionality, the knife can be easily and quickly unfolded under stress also with a "weak hand". The blade is unfolded by moving the massive slider forward, folding only requires reversing the slider in the opposite direction.
The whole process is instantaneous and, most importantly, very safe, as the blade is locked in as many as 3 places after unfolding. We also don't have to worry about accidentally unfolding the blade, it is ejected only after the slider is fully and consciously moved. The button has aggressive milling, so the knife can also be operated with gloves.
CF-Elite plastic was used for the handle. This nylon polymer has been reinforced with carbon fiber, making the knife's handle 17% lighter and stiffer (compared to Grivoy). Thanks to precise 3D machining, the handle not only has a modern design, but also an exquisite grip, which was achieved through the use of a rough texture and profiled shape.
The Benchmade Shootout has a high-set clip (which can be flipped to the other side) for easy discreet carrying of the knife in a pocket and attachment to a belt or backpack. The knife has an additional rescue tool in the form of a tungsten bolt, which allows you to instantly break glass or deliver a painful blow.
